Need a Data Raddiwala

Had a very dreadful dream last night and thought of sharing with you all.

The dream starts on a backdrop of a world where most of us have been glued to our devices and we have stopped communicating with our near and dear ones in physical world. There were lot of emptiness around and the light was very gloomy. may be it is very early morning and all were fast asleep. But even at that time there was a continuous 'water over flow' like sound and when I could not find the source nearby ,I saw that from distant part of world where people are still awake lot of data overflow happening from Servers. It was like waterfall. and the whole world is cluttered with data all around , the roads are occupied and for walking I need to be careful as by chance if I step on some data ,I may be sued for pilferage,destroy evidence and what all penalties. I looked at me. I am a Data Raddiwala.. attired in a spacesuit like dress with many ports oozing out some may be C type,some may be USB ,many are bluetooth enabled,WiFi enabled etc and with large google glass on eye to find out and analyse any data as I see it. I was going to a office who has recently put up ad on a darkweb to clean confidential data and reduce their power consumption etc. The Job description demands I should have skills of decrypting data,analysing all type of data serialization them,scrap as and when required . Lot of Crow type birds flying around me who live on damaged data. I am a seasoned Raddiwala employee and do it regularly for my living and have no emotions attached to any data. I collect whole lot of Personally identifiable data and I am trained to forget them as soon as I complete my work , I have a Sanitizer type liquid protruding from my attire with some demagnetising disc which helps me clean me and my devices once any assignment is over. I was walking very fast at an odd morning hour as I know there will be many security protocol I need to follow to start my work. And Clients do not want me to see for a long time. I have a bitcoin account which i settle to pay and receive payment.

On the way I checked my watch which is also a phone and a pad for surfing and saw two more calls are waiting to be accepted. It seems today I will have good income. there are discussions everywhere to stop upl

oading unnecessary data,refrain from taking selfies etc but people have been so addicted to their devices they donot mind spending money in scavenging and cleaning service. Good for me. Only thing is ,I being a Raddiwala ,I am. not sure what my clients do with this data, My job is to dump the whole data to our processing centre and again run for new assignment.

I woke up middle of night to be assured that I am still a working manager and do not lead a menial life of a data raddiwala. But the thought did not allow me to sleep further. Are we really heading to a disaster. I see people all around me saving information, not sure if they have means to recover ,but saving. Take my personal example. I have 2 TB HDD: 3 nos ,one GCB account with 2 TB ,one Microsoft Azure account with 1 TB, and a Icloud of 512GB. and still the situation has hardly changed. Last time when Income tax department wanted some bank statement of 2018-19 ,I had to rush to bank to get a print out despite of the house loft full with papers.. So nothing changed. And I am aware that the amount of Power consumption,amount of server space we are just wasting. I just finished an article that how large data centres are being built under the sea to save space and minimse cooling requirement. Once flying to Japan, I saw one young lady clicking numerous photo of clouds from flight. I asked her are these not available in public domain.. why you are clicking.. she answered these are mine.. Oh Lord in Bhagavat Gita ,Krishna has clearly said nothing is yours ,you are just taking care of His belongings , still we want everything personal.. do a google search on any topic and you see that there are atleast dozen Youtube video by different authors, Look for any course to study and you will be amazed so many content creators in Udemy,Coursera and even Universities.. So as a result we used to dodge while browsing thick book and now we fall asleep while seeing Videos.. and with so much of knowledge bank available hardly we are creating wisdom for us.. So in my mind to stop a Data Raddiwala profession time has come for all of us to take a pause and think :

are we really adding value to people lives by creating the content

is their a retention policy in place of all my contents

do we have a archive and retrieval mechanism

if we do not create this data or save this will we lose much.

As I say always in many of my meetings:

" Cost of Accounting should not be more than the Cost itself"
